I trotted quietly through the grass, enjoying the sweet aromas of the flowers tickling my nose. I was glad to be on my own for a while to clear my head. Everything was so jumbled up. My dearest Fierce was gone, and a war was coming soon. Plus, I had the responsibility of being the beta. Part of me was saying, "Run away," but that the was the puppy part of me, and I had banished it to the deepest recesses of my mind. I'm staying here. I can't just run off every time something goes wrong." I had definitely changed quite a bit since my arrival at the sanctuary. When I arrived, I was a timid little pup, but now I'm much stronger. That's not to say I'm not made of stone, I still have feelings and they do escape at times... Okay, maybe quite often, but that's not a bad thing.
With the war coming up, I knew I had to prepare myself, mentally and physically. Sure, I wasn't fat, but I hadn't had a play fight or anything for a while. I ran when I was hunting, but a rabbit doesn't exactly put up much of a fight once you catch it. I sighed, and smiled at the thought I had just put in my head, a rabbit jumping out and pouncing on me.

I walked through the tall grasses, their stalks tipped with dew and glittering quite happily in the sunlight, fingers reaching up to brush at my legs. Nose poked through the plants, warm brown eyes staring ahead, ears pricked forward. I had grown considerably in the past few months, though I was still short and petite like my mother. My legs were getting longer, allowing me to walk through the grass and be able to see where I was going at the same time. My torso was a little thicker than my mother's, though, due to Zorai's bulky body, but I still had the same feminine charm as Akela. My face was lit up with a grin as I walked through the field, the flowers brightening up the area, petals and rays of sun of a similar, golden color.
I hadn't really met many wolves in this pack as of yet. I mainly traveled with my brother Rome, but he didn't seem to be around today. I didn't mind, I knew he probably wanted to go exploring as well without me tagging along. I had met my older half-siblings, Ophelia and Skop, back at the pack meeting, but Skop didn't seem to take much of a liking to either Rome or I. Bruno didn't like us either, after the meeting by the river, and add Tequila onto the list you have a good amount of wolves in a pack that hated you. I wasn't sure why they didn't like us, maybe because of Rome, but he wasn't that bad once you got past his outer shell. Maybe Tequila was still mad that I had snaped at Ellie when she had pounced on him... I gulped, my ears pinning down for a moment. I hadn't meant to snap at a child, but... Oh, I don't even know.
So many murders were taking place, now, so much of a mess the Shadow wolves had made. First that horendus Bloodshed wolf, Cesaru, had showed up and killed my older brother Cricket. I hadn't know Cricket all that well, but it's kind of unnerving to have someone related to you killed right before you. I had seen the blood, I had seen the monster... I shivered at the thought of him, the dark form and those glowing sea-green eyes. I couldn't get his picture out of my mind, and I detested him for murdering Cricket. Fierce, the Beta Male, had also been murdered a few days ago. Murdered by the old Beta, Xenio, in fact. After my parents banished him because of Cricket's death, he came back and killed Fierce because he had filled in his position. Rexene had died a few days ago as well, and I admit I mourned a little. I didn't really know her all that well but it had been her own brother that had killed my brother. She was so sweet, so nice, and she had died from some sort of sickness. Probably because she wasn't feeding herself or something, maybe out of guilt. Either way, we had three important members to Lightning gone, and it wasn't one of our peaks.
I pushed through the flowers, a new scent hitting my nares. I had been following the femme's scent for some time, not knowing who it was but wanting to meet her. I sped up to a trot, running through the field in an attempt to catch up with her. "Hello?" I called out, as she wasn't yet within my sight. I thought it might've been the beta female, Fierce's mate Holly, but I wasn't sure. "Holly?" I called out, hoping it was her and not someone else. That might be embarassing.

My gray eyes were looking around, admiring all the natural beauty that surrounded me. I breathed deeply, and could feel the scents of grass, earth and flowers tickle their way up my nose.
Hello?
I stopped and looked around for where the voice had come from, it didn't sound threatening, but I prepared myself all the same. The scents all over were covering the scent of the creature approaching.
Holly?
The voice sounded again from behind me. I turned around with my tail high and saw a young fea padding up to me. I looked her over, she didn't seem to be a threat, and she smelled of Lightning. "Hello," I said, glad for some company. She looked familiar somehow, but I wasn't sure from when. Nyah, I was sure it would come to me eventually.
