Sometimes beautiful, and sometimes insane. [/ul] -- The wooded breeds of forest life wound into the sky, creating an isolated barrier of hands, blocking out the light of day. Glassy blue orbs flickered nervously up to the many colors of leaves and needles. Small black paws placed carefully forward in uncertainty.
-- Ears pinned against the fea's skull, each movement weary as the figure slithered through the maze of shrubs. Each weary step twisting her stomach into painful knots. Why had she wondered this way? Nyx would ask herself this very question over and over in her mind. Black paws seemed numb to the ground under her, but her chest throbbed as though she suffered an open wound.
-- Venturing into Bloodshed territory was not a wise choice. Nyx feared not the wolves she could have once called her pack mates, but the torture the land brought along with it. She had no set reason for revisiting her old home, maybe just to torture herself, at the thought of what she once had. Her whole family, now dead.
-- The femme would have once had a strut of confidence walking through here, just as she had on her first encounter with Bloodshed. But not now. Now it was as though Nyx were a frail shell, her insides carved out with vicious claws. Icy blue orbs once challenging with stubbornness, arrogance, and pride, now glassy with hollow memories. Walking through here was the reality Nyx had to face, running from her mind as a loner would not cut it for her whole life, and now she had to face up to the challenge that had come crashing down.
-- Disolving into the cover of the shadows, Nyx glanced anxiously over her shoulder. Maybe I should turn back... Nyx had a pride, and would have strut through here with confidence, but her memories were ebbing away at her, making her limbs feel weak, making her mind uncertain. With every glance, Nyx could almost envision the haunting ghostly white male that had once been her mate. [/ul]

Slinking through the tree trunks, the ghostly white male padded through, an inkling of a thought touching his mind. Nothing was to be thought of at this moment, nothing really to think about anyways. Onyx claws struck the ground softly, making shallow indents in the earth. The Bloodshed aroma ventured in and out of his nares, only to remind him that he was indeed a killer, a cruel and heartless beast with a handful of mental issues to accompany the bloodlust. This divine being was no younger than two, though no older than three. In the land of Bloodshed, age was merely a number. What your deeds and history were woven of was what really mattered. No, he hadn't taken a life nor given any, and yet his name was still plastered upon many wolven memories, alongside those of his family and relatives.
Who might his family be, though? His father was dead, him and his brother had made sure of that. As soon as their father's brother, thier uncle Tempest, had slaughtered the beast although being killed in return, the two brothers had torn up their father's remains. Like buzzards going in for the kill, the pair could be considered slightly cannibalistic. Taydin and Kade. Sons of Xecir and Nyx, both of whom were to be thought of as dead. Xecir was surely dead... at least according to Taydin and Kade. It had been rumored he still walked the earth for a little while longer, and was not killed by Tempest. But all that was merely lore, just a legend. However, Nyx was nowhere to be found. Her body had dissappeared, and her name forgotten.
Until today. As the hauntingly white male slipped through the branches of the trees, resembling a striking image of his father, Taydin's nose followed the scent of the divine black beast in which had given him life. While Kade was out busy attending to his children, the nasty, ungrateful spawn in which had come from spoiled Lightning, Taydin had set off in search of his mother. And his mother, he would find. As Taydin stepped gingerly on the blood-soaked ground, his intense amber eyes whipped around, trying to spot the female. "Nyx..." He whispered, a whisp of words that only the small gnat darting around his maw could hear. Dipping his head low to the ground, he took in another sip of air, scenting for the fae. Turning to the left, Taydin rose his head slightly, calling out slightly louder, "Nyx....?" He had thought of her gone, dead! Deceased! What was she doing back here?! "Mother? Are... you out there?" Maybe he was just crazy, and this was just a dream...

Sometimes beautiful, and sometimes insane. [/ul] -- The call was oh so faint, barely tracable over the still air. However it just barely caught to Nyx's ears. Every muscle in the fea's body stiffened, ears falling back, head swaying toward the general direction. It occured to the femme that maybe she was just hearing things. That returning to her old home was bringing back unwanted memories she had hoped to put to their grave. Had Nyx finally snapped? Was she insane. You snapped long ago, darling. The bacl canine assured herself.
-- Lulling about was doing Nyx no good, it only seemed to tear the whole deeper. However the fea had little time to wallow as the voice sounded once more, this time clear, louder. Lips drew back in a slightest trace of a snarl, drawing in the sweet scent of the male. The masuline voice, and scent was certainly that of a brute, instinctively, Nyx's battered armor took place once again. Form came to the hollowed shell of a canine, head and tail lifting defiantly, eyes hardening with the pride she'd always been known to have.
-- Dspite the fact Nyx felt weak and pathetic, she refused to show this with another wolf around. He pride would forbid her, as it was a weakness. Eats twitching, Nyx boldly straightened up, and drew towards the voice. "Mother?" Nyx echoed almost mockingly, glassy orbs searching the dense shrubs for the male.
-- Nyx had to admit, his scent seemed oddly familiar. Of course it's familiar, idiot. He carries the scent of Bloodshed. The impatient Nyx shouldered around the trunk of a tree, the ghostly white pelt almost spotted immediately. This stopped Nyx dead in her tracks. There was only two canines she ever seen such a pelt on. Xecir, and Taydin. Nyx felt as though she would collapse right there at the floods of images racing through her mind. A snarl tore through the small femme's throat, already infuriorated by this wolf. She didn't like him. Not one back. Not with an appearance like that, and the pain that memories invited.
-- The ink black fur along Nyx's spine bristled, baring pearly whites at the brute. But with a few deep breaths, Nyx managed to calm herself enough to speak once more. "You've got it all wrong there lovely. I'm not a mother." And this was true, in her mind at least. Her mate and pups were dead, how could she mother dead pups?
-- Nyx couldn't say she knew who this wolf was. Had she been slightly sane, it might click in this was her pup, but when one believed they were long dead, while running from memories, one would begin to believe they never existed. Perhaps this male recognized her from when she once belonged in the Bloodshed ranks. [/ul]

.& To be born a Bloodshed wolf, Taydin believed, was an honor. Many thought that, with wolves like Cesaru and Tempest and even Xecir running around, the only wolves who ever caused issues, that all Bloodshed wolves were the proud owners of some sort of mental issue. Not all, were. Kane was pretty sane, just evil and not exactly... nice. Masquerade wasn't exactly insane, just a little lost, it seemed. Although, as Taydin thought about it, there weren't a whole lot of wolves who didn't have a problem. Kade had some multi-personality disorder issues, where he could switch on and off a crazed expression, to completely lapse into an insane mindset. Cesaru? Hell, too many to count. Taydin himself was a bit of a strange one, being quiet, and although snarky and sarcastic, taking a bit of every personality there was to be along with him.
.& At this point, while Taydin slunk through the trees, he had taken on the appearance of his father. A ghost in waiting, a silent stalker. The amber eyes were flashing 'insanity' and his toes twitched in anticipation to touch something. Ears flicked back and forth, catching any movement in the still forest. His amber eyes landed on the small, black fae, a cold snarl ripping from her chest. Alarmed by the noise, Taydin took a few steps back, throwing his head up in the air, eyes coldly glaring down at her. Whether it was his mother or not, she was a stranger on the Bloodshed territory. Somehow, she smelt incredibly familiar, though. She smelled of Bloodshed first, but then.. Some other recognition beneath that. The smell of his mother.
"Xecir's not here to calm you down this time, Nyx." Taydin said icily to the black female. He took a few steps to the left, slowly starting to circle, about a fourth of the way around her. "He's dead. Kade and I made sure of that." Taydin raised his head a little higher, looking down at her from the bridge of his nose. "It is you who are sorely mistaken, fae. I am Taydin. You should know that, though. Son of Nyx and Xecir. Brother of Kade and Rikka. I'm only going to guess who you are." He didn't waste time beating around the bush, staring back at her with the same eyes his father had stared at her with the first time they had met.

Sometimes beautiful, and sometimes insane. [/ul] -- The first words that came from the male's mouth were as though he had raised a paw and struck the fea across the muzzle. A shudder rolled along the black canine's spine, a slight wince crumbling her unseen armor. It was so easy, just like that. At the slightest mention, one of her greatest weaknesses already wavering the female.
-- Nyx's ears fell straight back against her skull as the femme prodded the ground numbly, feeling slightly faint on her paws. Xecir. The word plastered itself into Nyx's mind. One of the four things she had been running from the past seasons of her life. Something she'd thought she'd trapped like a bird in a cage. Draping the blanket over the harsh bars to block the monstrous creature out. She'd frozen her heart, numbed the pain of loss to forget the memories that haunted the back of her mind. They're dead. Was a constant reminder when Nyx would dare to be bold and go swimming down memory lane.
-- At first, Nyx wasn't sure how to react. Should she trust this brute? What if he lied? What if he just wanted to see Nyx crumble from the inside out? If she had been in the right mind, if could have clicked in that this was all too coincidental, but like many wolves that is or was in Bloodshed, she was slightly insane, one could think. "How dare you." Nyx snarled, once again baring her fangs. "What kind of sick joke is this?" Again, her head raised in defiance, icy blue orbs locking with his amber gaze.
-- It was all too familiar. That pelt. Those eyes. That scent. There was a sense of tranquil when Nyx bore her eyes into his own, and oh so slowly the onyx black fur began to lie flat once again. "Taydin?" Nyx echoed quietly, half to herself. "I haven't heard that name in ages... and Kade, and Rikka... and.. -and Xecir." A shiver ran tiny paws along the fea's body. Recognition began to reveal itself in platinum blue eyes.
-- "But you're dead. I was sure of that." Part of Nyx wanted to just cave in and believe what Taydin was saying. However that isolated part wanted to reject it all, fearing that believing he, or they, were still alive, that it would be taken away again. And Nyx would be left with nothing. "What happened to you? What's become of you, and your siblings-my pups?" Again, Nyx hesitated. [/ul]

.& The fae was taken aback, only as I thought she would. Her lips rose in snarl, crinkling above her sharp incizors. A ripple of risen fur lined her back, and her eyes flashed with an insane anger, mixed with deep pain. "How dare I?" I sneered slightly, bringing my head down and narrowing my eyes a little. "A sick joke? Oh, but darling, that's the way of Bloodshed. However, this is one instance where the joke's on me, not you." I retorted smoothly, slowly rotating my shoulder blades to move halfway in a circle around her. What kind of sick joke is it for a mother to leave her young just after their father died? Sure, Kade and I had no place in our hearts for him like any normal son would, but we had been abandoned. Left for dead. We hadn't seen Rikka since we had gone exploring two years ago.
"Dead cannot be among the living, can they, Nyx?" I hissed, stepping closer to her face, my eyes burning into her face. "There are rumors of zombie-like creatures running amok in these lands, but I assure you I would know if I was deceased or not." I growled, stepping back from her to give her a little bit of room. I guess you could say I was pissed off, but beneath that, I was happy to see she was alive. I just wasn't going to show her that yet; I wanted to make her feel my pain before I would accept her again.
"And I haven't heard the name 'Nyx' in... oh, two years." I said, sarcastically thinking. My ears whipped back, eyes glaring at her. My muzzle pointed down at my small, skinny mother. I was such a tall brute, like most others in my family, even though I wasn't bulky like a lot of the males. "Rikka? Haven't seen her since the day you left us." I snapped, this time, my words coming through with a bit of pain etched into their sylables. "Kade, however, is still here. He and I have kept each other alive thus far. In fact, he's got three kids." So one of them was a sick whore, another probably a lesbian, and the other a wannabe-killer, but they were still his kids.
.&I moved around to her left. "Xecir? He could be dead. Not exactly sure. Maybe 99% sure. All I know was that a white brute with my coloring and my eyes killed Tempest. The remains were tattered and bloody, and barely recognizable. Kade and I had been brought along to witness the battle... Though halfway through, we fell out of the tree, and the next instant, there was a third wolven scent and two dead, torn up wolves in the middle of the field. We just played with the white one's remains." A sick grin crossed my face. So we mangled with our dead father's remains, so what? Then again, it could have been that third male that I had faintly scented, although it was highly unlikely. Xecir would have made it back to Bloodshed by now. Hm. Maybe I should just tell Nyx he could still be out there, get her hopes up and then watch reality crash back down upon her.
I shrugged, walking back to my starting position. "You know, he could still be out there."

Sometimes beautiful, and sometimes insane. [/ul] -- His voice was a sneer, that notorious Bloodshed personality. Nyx's platinum gaze followed the male closely as he shifted a semi circle around her. This was her pup, and yet it felt to Nyx as though this were just some other brute. At the slightest wrong move, the fea felt as though she could leap at his throat, there was no tenderness at the thought she was staring into the eyes of one of her sons. She saw Xecir clear as day, but relief did not run hot in her veins, her lungs felt frozen, as though her blood were ice. Stomach twisting into knots, it crossed the fea's mind that she should just turn around and forget it all. Or try at least. So her pups were alive, but this did not bring the joy of mother-hood with it, only the haunting memories and fears of those few years in the gap.
-- Icy gaze watching the ghostly white male, Nyx remained tense, as though she were facing an enemy. Why was this? She could ask? Nyx wasn't sure, Taydin wasn't her son, not in her eyes. He carried the traits of Bloodshed, Nyx admitted grudgingly, a trait she too carried. However the femme could not find her tongue to come up with a response to the male's first statement, and merely mirrored his positioning with her own. Every move he made, she would shift ever so slightly. Ready.
-- Taydin stepped menacingly closer, her gaze narrowed into his own. Nyx's head raised defiantly, gaze locked, expressions guarded. Like any male wolf, or any wolf, Nyx's pride refused to let her step back, or reveal even the slightest flash of uncertainty. Taydin was certainly not dead. Unless Nyx was imagining this, and had finally tipped the wagon, this had to be true. As much as everything still seemed numb to the black fea.
-- The challengingly close male stepped back, his words left Nyx stinging, however the female prodded the earth on petite paws, refusing to show any sign of caving. Taydin's voice grew sharp and sarcastic, as the fea would realize just how much she probably had hurt her pups. Instinctively told Nyx to feel sorry for the canine, but in such a seemingly hostile situation, through the female's eyes, her heart was nothing but icy, engulfed in the fury flame of painful memories. It was clear by Taydin's tone he was not pleased by Nyx's actions, the slightest traces of pain laced his voice, and the hostile stance and eyes of amber orbs. "What I did was wrong, I know that. I wasn't ready to be a mother, and it didn't help when... Xecir died. I've never been fit to be a mother, and never will-." However Nyx cut off when the latter statement sunk in. Pups? Kade? Nyx was cut off guard by this. One of her own sons had pups? She was a grandmother, was she?
-- Nyx grew the desire to see these pups, having always adored the little creatures. But the femme had abandoned her own, she had no right to meet these pups. "I hope he's happy with his mate and pups then." Nyx forced a sour sneer in her voice, realizing just how much she had put a dent in the life of her pups, and in herself. She already envied young Kade. He probably had a beautiful female to go to, and wonderful pups that he'd be able to watch grow up.
-- Nyx was given little time to fret about this as the ghostly figure slithered to her left. The defenses rose again as Nyx rocked onto her right, twisting to keep her eyes locked on the male. Her ears pinned back as Taydin spoke of Xecir, her stomach twisting painfully at his last sentence. Had they no decency to honor the death that had helped bear their life? Black lips curled back in the beginning of a snarl, but not a sound escaped from Nyx's frozen lungs. Had her pups been monsters from the start? Had they grown into monsters? Served Nyx right.
-- Taydin slid back in front of Nyx, but his words, once again, took Nyx by surprise. She was left frozen, holding her breath as his words battered around in her skull. Could be alive. Those few words seemed to reach her heart, pace accelerating. Maybe, just maybe, be was alive. It took a brief moment for Nyx to thaw, instantly the femme cast the briskest of glance over her shoulder, as though Xecir's body were standing right there. But Nyx was expecting the faint disappointment when there was nothing, and blue eyes would settle back on Taydin. Despite Nyx's rising hopes, she wanted to keep guarded, but even Nyx couldn't help but lit a faint glimmer of hope trickle into her gaze. "That's impossible." Nyx snapped back sharply, whether she was trying to convince herself, or him. "So what if he's still out there? He doesn't love me. He doesn't love you, or Kade, or Rikka. He doesn't care about us. He left, just as I had. What reason do I have to believe he cares if I'm alive or not, or why I should care if he stalks these woods. Nyx snarled, only tearing herself apart more at her own words. The femme had convinced herself was was still alive, for her own reassureance, but it pained her all the more to believe this, and that he had not come back for them. A quivering shudder rolled along Nyx's spine, in which she choked back with no success. [/ul]

.& Oh how terrible I was being. Telling my mother that my father, who himself was the only reason she had been accepted into Bloodshed in the first place, was still potentially out there and around to be found, was just plain cruel. She obviously still loved him, you could see the pain in her eyes. As she took into realization as to what we had done with his dead carcass, her lips pulled back in a silent snarl, anger flaring up on her petite face, her lips twitching and I could only imagine that she wanted to take a snap at me, to spill my blood just as Xecir's had. I wondered if Kade could smell her, or if he was completely oblivious to the fact that Nyx was here. Maybe he was dealing with Ria and Bonsai. Maybe I should howl for him. Who really knows. Once I got a good chance, I'd call for him. Let mom see the monstrosity she had created.
"Ha! He raped the girl, if that's what you call a 'mate'." I snorted, glaring at the ground. I growled at her, though I wasn't really sure what I was mad at. Hell, I didn't care that Kade raped Ophelia. He loved her now, and she apparently loved him back. Did I really care about Kade's personal life? Not really. I was just the cool uncle his kids had. "Sexaria's a bitch, and Bonsai wants to be a killer. Harley's still back in Lightning, with her mother. But if you stick around, you'll probably run into the other two sooner or later." With Bonsai wanting to make a name for himself and Ria wanting to get laid by as many as possible, Nyx would be sure to know who they were by the end of the week. "Harley's probably the only good one out of the bunch. But she's still with Ophelia. Maybe if Kade takes a trip up there, you could go with him." I spoke as if she was staying... I guess a part of me wanted her to stick around, to maybe be a better grandmother to the kids than she was a mother to us.
"And you know what? I have no idea if Xecir is still out there." I sighed in defeat, giving up on being a bastard to her. I slumped slightly, though I still had the powerful image of my father. "You can't deny he loved you. If he was alive, he'd be trying to find you. Although, seeing as you've been running away from everything, he could very well just not have found you yet, mom." I shrugged, looking down at her pale, ice blue eyes with my energetic amber irises. "He didn't love us. But he loved you."

Sometimes beautiful, and sometimes insane. [/ul] -- Taydin spoke first of Kade, and his pups. A flash of surprise flashed across the fea's face. He had raped her? Impossible, sweet little Kade would never do such a thing! Never! Then again, it had been a long couple of years, and many things had changed in that skip of time. Nyx felt the anger pulse through her veins. That was the very type of male she despised. A male that only used females for sex, they had no love, no commitment, merely for the pleasure of making the femme do as he pleases. Had she indeed raised such a wolf?
-- Taydin growled, and Nyx would counter with a light growl of her own. Not particularity at her son, who she watched before blue orbs, but to the son that enraged her so. Kade. Nyx felt the need to spring forward and lash out, but she didn't dare take it out of Taydin, had Kade been here, he could have faced her wrath, though the black canine was forced to swallow it down. Just as Taydin spoke once more.
-- This 'Sexaria' must have been a slam on one of the pups, as well as this Bonsai, and finally Harley. Nyx did not recall these names, and figured that must have been Kade's pups. However there was no sense of joy, these pups were as monsterous as their father. A killer? The bitch? Again, Nyx could feel her stomach twisting. She considered what she would do after this, if her family were as sick as they sounded, she considered very well just turning her back on them once again. But Taydin mentioned her sticking out, and Nyx's ears twitched in consideration. "The pups sound... interesting. Though I make no guarantees that I will stay around. Bloodshed might not be the pack it once was, I'm not sure yet. But I am intrigued to see Kade again." Nyx tensed slightly, uncertain if this was really true. But the fea knew very well, no matter what they did, or her grandchildren did, she'd awlays love them.
-- There was a sense of defeat in Taydin's voice as he spoke. As though he'd given up his rough exterior, Nyx could already feeling the numbing in effect at the many unseen attacks she'd faced to her heart and sanity. Nyx wanted to feel a sense of relief to her son's words, but she really didn't know what to think of this, or even how to respond. There was sort of a sense of belonging to be reunited with her pup, weather Taydin felt it or not. She realized she didn't want to leave again, things would numb up, and become just as they once had. Or as close as it could get. Maybe Nyx was being silly thinking such a thing, but while she felt defeated, just as Taydin, Nyx didn't want to argue anymore. "Where ever Xecir maybe, things are for the best." Nyx replied softly, lowering her head ever so slightly.
-- "Kane and Masquerade are still the Alphas, yes?" Nyx questioned, her first encounter had not been so pleasant. And had it not been for her love, she probably would never have been part of Bloodshed. Now, however, Nyx was once again growing curious about pack life. But she'd turned her back on it once before. Would she be accepted again? [/ul]

.& So we had both given up, and were talking civily to each other. I wondered when Kade would get here, or if anything, when I should howl. I waited patiently for my opportunity, listening and watching my mother for any signs of hostility. If I called her here, she might tense up, get kind of nervous. I didn't want to scare the living daylights out of her, though a little bit of torture wouldn't hurt. Or maybe it would. I dunno.
.& I wondered what she would really say if she met Bonsai, Sexaria, and Harley. She'd probably like Harley. She isn't really one you can't like, aside from Ria who seemed to hate her guts. Probably because Harley had some sense. 'Oh, she's just so IRRITATING!' and, 'she's just jealous of me. I know it.' Some of Ria's thoughts on her sister. I, personally, would rather Harley be here than Ria. I despised that little sonofabitch. She drove me insane. If she was my kid, I would've killed her a long time ago. Kade was more mad than I was, and I was honestly surprised he was keeping his word to Ophelia and not killing her off just yet. He must really love the chick.
"Well, if I'm not mistaken, Kade was planning a trip up to Lightning to go see Ophelia, the mother, and Harley, his other daughter, to see how they're doing. He might've raped her, but he seems to have fallen head over heels for her now." At least Ophelia was in good hands. Sort of. Maybe. I guess. I dunno. Kade was a bad one at heart, he honestly was a bit of a psycho. But if he loved Ophelia, that was that. He hadn't killed any of her kids, he had taken good care of her with the exception of the whole raping thing. In a way, they were cute together.
.& As she finished talking, I nodded to her lightly, turning my back to her for a few quick moments to part my jaws, craning my neck back and staring at the long, dark fingers of the trees above. As the howl died, I could almost hear my brother's dark, sinister steps approaching.
